Schalke Signs Janik Bachmann for Next Season

The defender joins from second-division side FC St. Pauli

FC Schalke 04 has made its first major signing of the summer, bringing in defender Janik Bachmann from second-division side FC St. Pauli. The 24-year-old has signed a contract until June 2024.

Bachmann is a Zweite Bundesliga veteran, having made over 100 appearances in the league for St. Pauli and Union Berlin. He is a versatile defender who can play as a center-back or a left-back.

Schalke sporting director Rouven Schröder said: "Janik Bachmann is a young and talented defender who has proven his qualities in the second division. We are confident that he can make a positive contribution to our team next season."

Bachmann is expected to join up with his new teammates at the start of pre-season training in June.
