Boston Market on the Brink of Collapse
Once-National Chain Faces Closure as Restaurants Shut Down
WEB Restaurants are closing every day, a former Boston Market employee told Restaurant Business. The once-national chain of rotisserie chicken restaurants is facing an uncertain future, with its Colorado headquarters seized and dozens of locations closed.
The Downfall of Boston Market
Boston Market's downfall has been swift and dramatic. In recent months, the company has closed dozens of restaurants, and its Colorado headquarters was seized by authorities. The biggest blow came in the form of a lawsuit, which alleged that Boston Market had violated state labor laws.
Lawsuits and Closures
State labor officials have temporarily shut down more than two dozen Boston Market restaurants in New Jersey. New Jersey labor officials ordered 27 Boston Market locations closed on August 14. The rotisserie chicken has stopped turning in all but a handful of New Jersey outlets at Boston Market.
Boston Market said Monday it closed 45 stores as it proceeds with its multi-faceted transformation plan.
