The Current Flag

The current flag of Alabama, adopted in 1895, is a simple yet striking design. It features a crimson St. Andrew's Cross on a field of pure white. The cross is not less than six inches broad and extends to the edges of the flag. The proportions of the flag can be either square or rectangular.

Historical Evolution

In 1895, the Legislature passed Act 383, which established the current flag as the official state flag.

Usage and Display

The Alabama state flag is flown on government buildings and at official state functions. It can also be used by private citizens to show their patriotism and support for their state.
